Abidjan is also the headquarters of CĂŽte d’Ivoire’s clothes designers, renowned for being the best in Africa including Gilles Toure (designer for Miss CĂŽte d’Ivoire) and PathĂ© O.
PathĂ© O: After leaving his country of origin, Burkina Faso, he decided to go to make a future for himself in CĂŽte d’Ivoire.
It may have taken years but once Pathé O found his signature style, he knew he was on the right track. He was not afraid to use locally made hand-woven fabrics, bogolan, indigo or the printed loincloth to create styles and designs to suit the casual dressers and socialite alike.
Mr Pathé Ouédraogo has been making ready-to-wear clothing for Men and Women for over four decades.
Several fashion events are organized in the city each year, which are listed below. Moreover, the Yéhé Fashion Show takes place every year, a celebration of African fashion:
